Oppo Reno 12 Pro

Oppo Reno 12 Pro review, the OPPO Reno 12 series phone will sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series sub-platform chipset.

China’s Oppo launched the Oppo Reno 12 series in India on July 12, in which it brought its first wave of mobile artificial intelligence features. There are two similar-looking models in the series, but the top-end model, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro, features a more supportive camera system and a dual-tone design on the back cover. Powered on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300, the mid-range smartphone looks expensive based on the on-paper specifications. But, there is more to the Reno 12 Pro than meets the eye. What about it? The Oppo Reno series is known for its unique design, and the Oppo Reno 12 Pro continues that legacy – the back has a matte finish, while the bottom appears to have a smooth appearance. These two sections are divided by a thick glass strip that prominently displays Oppo’s branding. The rear camera module, which has three camera sensors placed vertically on the top.

While the back of the phone looks and feels premium, it’s on the front that it’s really an eyesore. The smartphone features a quad-curved glass design on the flat display, which creates a bezel-less appearance. This curved glass not only enhances ergonomics, but it also helps prevent accidental touches.

I noticed that the glossy bottom half and camera module often have a tendency to collect dust, which needs to be cleaned regularly. Additionally, the smartphone experiences slight shaking when placed on flat surfaces.

If you’re considering this phone, consider it from a few key perspectives:

Display and Camera:

The Oppo Reno 12 Pro sports a 6.7-inch Full HD flat display with quad-curved glass protection. The viewing experience is great, as the panel maintains optimal color accuracy and vibrancy in the eyes. With a 120 Hz refresh rate and smooth animation effects, the smartphone offers a premium experience.

The camera system has three major sensors – 50-megapixel primary, 50-megapixel telephoto, and 8-megapixel ultra-wide. On the front, there is a 50-megapixel autofocus camera sensor. Photos taken from the primary camera sensor are clear and sharp in natural light, but sometimes due to software processing, color distortion may appear.

Performance and Battery:

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chip, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro packs 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. The smartphone handles daily tasks with ease, but reaches its limits for complex tasks like high-resolution video recording or graphics-based gaming.

Running ColorOS 14 based on Android 14, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro is stable and smooth, with great animations and updates. Some useful features are included, like a file dock on the side panel.

Battery and Analysis:

The Oppo Reno 12 Pro packs a 5,000 mAh battery, which is enough to last a full day of charging on average usage. But, the battery drains quickly when streaming video or gaming, which may require recharging within the same day.

Oppo Reno 12 Pro 5g Price In India

Launched at a price of Rs 36,999, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro comes with a buildable build, premium design, vibrant display, but most importantly a suite of Artificial Intelligence features. However, the smartphone falls short in battery and capable image experience.

For those who are looking to buy a mid-range smartphone, Oppo Reno 12 Pro can be a good option.
